It is aimed at providing an overview of the recent publish/subscribe related projects. Articles and news on this page have been subjectively selected by the author:
  • Jan. 26, 2007 - Just added slides from Event-Driven Architectures: A Devil’s Advocate’s View talk by K. Mani Chandy at the Event-Processing Symposium on 14 March 2006 in IBM Research, Hawthorne, NY and Event-Driven Applications: Where they Apply and How they are Built and Event-Driven Applications: Costs, Benefits and Design Approaches, both by K. Mani Chandy at Gartner Application Integration and Web Services Summit 2005 and 2006.
  • Nov. 12, 2006 - Freshmeat announcement - Avis is a flexible event router service compatible with the commercial Elvin implementation produced by Mantara Software. It provides a general-purpose, high performance publish/subscribe message bus using content-based subscriptions.
  • Oct. 10, 2006 - Real-Time Innovations (RTI), The Real Time Middleware Company, announced that Sperry Marine, a Northrop Grumman Company, has incorporated RTI Data Distribution Service into the development of a versatile and scalable Navigation Data Distribution System (NavDDS) that seamlessly interfaces a wide variety of electronic navigation sensors with shipboard systems and equipment requiring navigation information. The NavDDS solution can be configured to support anything from a simple half-duplex interface with a single sensor up to a large-scale system with dual- redundant servers running complex software that distributes time-critical data from multiple sensors. NavDDS can also disseminate navigation information via traditional transport mechanisms such as RS-422 and synchro and via Ethernet by leveraging RTI’s real-time publish-subscribe messaging capabilities.
  • Jul. 26, 2006 - Matching search engine blog and news source tracking company, PubSub Concepts, has been chosen to employ its search technology to expand the online coverage provided by media monitoring service, BurrellesLuce.
  • Jul. 24, 2006 - Adobe has recently released the version 2.0 of its flex data services. Flex Data Services integrates with existing common middleware and provides services that automatically synchronize data between client and server, add support for real-time data push and publish/subscribe messaging, and enable collaborative and occasionally disconnected applications.
  • Jul. 10, 2006 - THALES and PrismTech jointly announced a strategic alliance that will see PrismTech independently develop and commercially exploit THALES' Data Distribution Service (DDS) middleware technologies. THALES has been following an open architecture strategy and has been heavily involved in the development of open Standards. A significant part of this strategy was the active role of THALES in the standardization of the DDS specification at the Object Management Group(TM) (OMG(TM)) and the implementation of a DDS-compliant product, SPLICE-DDS, which leveraged more than fifteen years of publish-subscribe middleware deployment experience in Combat Management and Air Traffic Control Systems.
  • Jun. 26, 2006 - RE2 plans to integrate its JAUS (Joint Architecture for Unmanned Systems) software development kit with RTI's data distributing middleware product. The effort aims to enable the use of RTI's Data Distribution Service (DDS) middleware in unmanned systems that are required by the U.S. Department of Defense to comply with JAUS. RTI's DDS, formerly NDDS (Network Data Distribution Services), is described as an implementation of the Object Management Group's Data Distribution Service for Real-time Systems. It implements a real-time publish-subscribe communications model with C, C++, and Java interfaces.
